La Bretonniere Bordeaux Claret 2023
From a 2-hectare sandy-clay vineyard of Merlot and Malbec (average vine age 15 years, planted at 5,000–6,666 vines/ha), this Clairet is made every year from the same parcel, producing just 15,000 bottles annually.
Grapes undergo a 24–48 hour steep before fermentation in temperature-controlled vats, followed by 5 months of maturation in vats. True to the estate’s tradition, bottling is done according to the lunar cycles. The 2024 vintage is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Malbec.
The result is a vibrant wine with the body of a light red and the fruit of a rosé. It shows an intense nose of blackcurrant, blackberry, and raspberry, with a palate that’s well-balanced, fruit-driven, and long on the finish. Festive and easy to drink, it is best enjoyed chilled (8–10°C).
Perfect with barbecue, charcuterie, salads, fish, white meats, paella, pizza, Asian cuisine, desserts—or simply on its own. A convivial wine made for all occasions, with immediate drinkability.
