La Bretonniere - Blaye Dry White 2024
Built in the 17th century and owned by Stéphane Heurlier since 1992, Château La Bretonnière has long been recognized for producing authentic and expressive wines from its 16 hectares of vineyards. Just 1.5 hectares are devoted to white grapes, planted in clay-sandy soils with gravel, yielding about 12,000 bottles annually.
The 2024 vintage is a blend of 50% Sauvignon Gris, 15% Sauvignon Blanc, and 35% Sémillon from 20-year-old vines (5,000 plants/ha). Grapes are harvested at peak aromatic maturity and fermented with selected yeasts. The wine is matured 5 months in stainless steel and French oak barrels, with bottling guided by lunar cycles.
Fresh and complex, it shows a fruity bouquet with citrus and stone fruit notes. On the palate, it is smooth yet lively, with bright acidity, balance, and a long, elegant finish. Versatile and food-friendly, it pairs beautifully with shellfish, seafood, and lighter dishes, but is equally enjoyable on its own.
