Fig 10 de Bel-Air La Royère 2022

From 75-year-old vines rooted in clay-limestone soils, this certified organic cuvée is a rare expression of Bordeaux Malbec produced only in outstanding vintages and in very limited quantities. Once nearly abandoned in the region, this “illegitimate son of Bordeaux,” as vigneronne Corinne Chevrier says, has been preserved on the estate since 1992 and elevated here in a pure, single-varietal bottling.

The grapes undergo a three-week maceration, with malolactic fermentation completed before the end of primary fermentation. Fermentation and aging take place entirely in amphora, a method that highlights the grape’s natural finesse and aromatic exuberance while maintaining freshness and balance.

This Malbec reveals intense fruit and spice with a supple, refined structure and a long, elegant finish — a unique style within Bordeaux.

Pair with matured meats or a grilled ribeye cooked over Malbec vine cuttings. Best enjoyed young for its vibrancy, though it also shows good aging potential.
